An interesting new addition to the Riyadh foodie scene, Mat Cookies has arrived in the capital.

Becoming an instant hit from the moment it opened its doors, Mat Cookies quickly gained popularity due to its wide selection of unique and distinctive cookies. And has firmly established itself as a must-visit destination in the Saudi capital.

News of its opening quickly spread across social media, and this is how I came across it, videos of the cafe continuously popped up on my social feed and I knew I just had to try them.

Hailing from Al Khobar, this new establishment has quickly gained popularity due to its wide selection of unique and distinctive cookies, establishing itself as a must-visit destination in the Saudi capital. And it was the overwhelmingly positive feedback online, and the numerous images and videos of the delicious cookies that led me to visit and experience its indulgent offerings for myself.

Tucked away on a quiet side street near Al Faisaliah Tower, Mat Cookies has chosen a modest and unassuming location for its storefront, far from the hustling, bustling main streets of the city. But, what truly gives it away as a must-try location is the long queue outside.

Would you wait an hour and a half to buy a cookie? I did, and let me tell you why it was worth it and I would do it again.

Extending the length of the street, the long queue is quite impressive. And what is even more impressive is the fact that no one feels the need to leave the line, its like everyone knows that the cookies that lie at the end of the queue are 100% worth the wait.

After a very long hour and a half, dreaming of which cookie I would try, it was finally my turn.

Although the menu is relatively small, the selection is truly delicious. And there were three particular items that caught my eye: the Classic Cookie, the Brownie Cookie and the Cinnamon Cookie.

I decided to try the Brownie Cookie... Hunks of rich, freshly-baked, chocolatey brownie pieces are placed on top of a warm (and unusually square shaped) chocolate chip cookie, all topped with a heavy-handed drizzle of a warm, fudgy chocolate sauce and you can even order a side of cool, vanilla ice cream to top it all off.

Soft, gooey, delicious, mouth-watering and tasting like more, I can confirm that these cookies are most definitely worth the 90 minute wait.
