Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia’s groundbreaking “city built for play,” is teeing up for its next big draw: an 18-hole championship golf course designed by six-time major winner Sir Nick Faldo.

Slated to open to the public in 2026, the course and its accompanying facilities mark a major milestone in Qiddiya’s plan to become the Kingdom’s premier golf destination and a regional hub for youth development.

At the heart of this initiative is Qiddiya’s new partnership with the Faldo Series, the world’s leading pathway for junior golfers.

As a global partner, Qiddiya will host Saudi Arabia’s Faldo Series events, giving aspiring players home-turf opportunities to train, compete and network alongside peers from around the world. By weaving grassroots outreach into its master plan, Qiddiya underscores a long-term commitment to nurturing local talent and growing golf at every age and skill level.

Set against the dramatic 200-metre cliffs of the Tuwaiq Mountains, the Sir Nick Faldo signature course will balance a professional-level, challenging course with broad accessibility plat. A standout “three-hole return” layout lets golfers play shorter loops rather than committing to the full 18-hole stretch, opening the game to newcomers or busy professionals, and allowing for the heat in the summer.

Floodlighting will help to extend playing hours well into the evening, while tailored learning pathways; from beginner clinics to advanced masterclasses, will ensure every visitor finds the right pace and support during their visit.

Beyond the fairways, Qiddiya’s golf destination will feature a state-of-the-art clubhouse, driving range and academy complex scheduled to welcome members and guests in 2028.

Designed by New Zealand based architectural firm, Patterson’s to blend with the desert environment, the clubhouse is more than an operational hub; it’s a social and wellness centre. Fitness and conditioning suites, indoor and outdoor pools, and dedicated spa facilities will sit alongside more flexible event spaces, and a selection of dining outlets and lounges, creating a vibrant community focal point both for golfers and non-golfers alike.

A distinctive green-roofed structure will knit together three core zones: the Golf Clubhouse, the Social Wellness Hub and the Golf Academy.

This public-facing pavilion will host exhibitions, clinics, corporate events and social gatherings, inviting the wider Qiddiya community to engage with the sport. Sustainability is embedded throughout the design, from water-efficient landscaping to solar-shaded seating, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s broader environmental goals.

Strategically located just 40 minutes from the capital city of Riyadh on a 360-square-kilometre site, once opened Qiddiya City will be home to world-class attractions, from the much-anticipated Six Flags Qiddiya and the cliff-edge Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium. The addition of a championship golf course further diversifies the entertainment ecosystem, driving tourism, creating jobs and boosting local economic growth in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030’s objectives.

Teeing off in 2026, Qiddiya is set to stand out not only as an adrenaline playground but as a beacon for sport, community and active lifestyles across the region.
