Riyadh is hosting the prominent cultural event Art Week Riyadh, at various locations across the city, including JAX District in Diriyah, and Al Mousa Complex. Numerous artistic and cultural entities are participating in this event, most notably the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) and the Saudi Research and Media Group.
An Artistic Platform
"Art Week Riyadh " serves as a unifying platform for the components of the Saudi art scene. It seeks to foster meaningful dialogue between local and international artistic communities, contributing to shaping the future of art in the region.
The event highlights the role of art in inspiring, challenging, and connecting people, by creating a space where creative ideas and visions can converge—reflecting Riyadh’s vibrancy and rapid transformation.
The event explores three main themes: everyday life, landscapes, and motifs.
A Strong Framework for Creativity
Art Week Riyadh aims to build a solid and comprehensive framework that supports innovation, creativity, and intellectual leadership, with a firm commitment to preserving and promoting culture. It brings together diverse elements from Saudi Arabia’s art sector and seeks to empower and nurture practitioners, while promoting a shared vision of growth, opportunity, and cultural enrichment.
The Art Week Riyadh initiative is founded on the principles of a dynamic art community, designed to foster a collaborative environment where visual arts continue to thrive for future generations. It features a program that honors the past, celebrates the present, and invests in the future—showcasing the depth and breadth of the Saudi art scene.
Landscape and Memory
The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) is participating in the inaugural edition of Art Week Riyadh with an exhibition of 15 art pieces by 11 local and international artists.
The collection highlights the relationship between landscape and memory, exploring how art can express the interaction between place and human experience. It presents works by prominent artists such as Mohammed Al Faraj, Do Ho Suh, Moath Alofi, Gregory Mohoney, and Maha Malluh. Through their art, they explore the connection between place and human experience, addressing significant social, cultural, and historical issues such as identity, displacement, and environmental change.
