The very first event of Riyadh Season 2024 has been unveiled.
Announced last night on X (formerly Twitter) and on Instagram, it was confirmed that Riyadh Season 2024 will officially kick off with another international sporting spectacle in October. It is clear that boxing will remain an exciting and pivotal part of this year's Riyadh Season events calendar.
Following the most successful edition of Riyadh Season to date in 2023, Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), Turki Al-Alshikh announced earlier this month that Riyadh Season 2024 would begin on October 12.
About IV Crown Showdown
Originally scheduled for June 1, the IV Crown Showdown will now become the opening event of Riyadh Season 2024.
Going head-to-head in the opening event, IV Crown Showdown, two of the world's best fighters will take to the ring. On Saturday October 12, Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol will battle it out for the chance to be crowned the ultimate champion in the world's light heavyweight division.
Aside from the main event, the IV Crown Showdown - referring to the four champion belts on the line for Beterbiev and Bivol - will also feature seven undercard clashes.
Included in these undercard events will be Riyadh Season's very first showdown between female athletes. Australian professional featherweight boxer Skye Nicolson will take on British boxer Raven Chapman in the clash. Currently both athletes are undefeated, making this boxing match an even more intense and interesting event.
Other undercard matches include Chris Eubank Jnr versus Kamil Szeremeta, Ben Whittaker versus Liam Cameron and Shakur Stevenson versus Joe Cordina.
