Dubai’s tourism and hospitality sectors continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience and sustained growth, recording its highest monthly visitor numbers since February 2026 as the 33rd edition of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) opens at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Driven by a diversified global market strategy and strong public-private partnerships, the emirate welcomed approximately 869,000 international overnight visitors in August alone. This momentum brings total international visitation to 6.97 million for the first eight months of the year, setting a confident tone for the final quarter of 2026 as industry leaders gather in the city to forge new trade relationships.
Key Insights from Dubai's Tourism Data
Rising Occupancy Rates: Hotel occupancy reached 66% in August 2026, marking a steep upward climb from 36% in March 2026. This performance represents 89% of the occupancy levels achieved during the same period in August 2025. The sharp month-on-month recovery reflects strong underlying consumer confidence, effective market stimulation, and the hospitality sector's overall resilience heading into the final quarter of the year.
High Nightly Volumes: Between January and August 2026, Dubai hotels recorded a total of 21.61 million occupied room nights, underscoring the massive operational scale of the local accommodation sector. This volume was supported by a growing infrastructure base, with total room inventory approaching 149,000 keys by the end of August 2026 as several properties completed extensive upgrades and renovations to elevate guest experiences.
Diversified Global Reach: Dubai continued to leverage a broad, multi-region market strategy to drive international visitation, welcoming 6.97 million overnight visitors in the first eight months of 2026. Western Europe led regional contributions with a 20% market share, followed closely by South Asia at 17%, the GCC at 16%, and CIS/Eastern Europe at 14%. Additional feeder regions included MENA (10%), North East and South East Asia (9%), the Americas (7%), Africa (5%), and Australasia (2%).
