Looking for Eid plans that go beyond the usual? The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) in Dhahran is hosting a three-day celebration from June 7 to 9, and the line-up is packed with concerts, films, games, and workshops for all ages. The event is open from 4PM to 11PM and offers free general admission, though some specific activities require tickets.
This year’s theme, “Ribbons of Giving,” centers on generosity, community, and creativity — all brought to life through 31 events taking place across Ithra’s striking spaces.
What to See and Do
Headlining the program is a performance by oud maestro Islam Al-Qasabgy, known for his modern take on classical Arabic music. The concert will be held at the Ithra Theater, offering a moment of musical reflection in the midst of the celebrations.
Families can dive into a more playful mood with screenings at Ithra Cinema, including the beloved Japanese animated film “Kiki’s Delivery Service” (with Arabic subtitles) and a special appearance by Chibi Maruko-chan, a character familiar to generations of anime fans. For something more local, the short film “Saleeq” tells a touching story of resilience, food, and unexpected floods.
One of the festival’s more unique offerings is a 96-kilometre Hajj trail simulation, designed to honor the journeys of pilgrims past. Along the way, visitors will encounter stories of persistence, sacrifice, and the spirit of Eid carried across generations.
Workshops, storytelling corners, traditional games, and hands-on creative stations round out the program — much of it delivered in Arabic but open to everyone.
