With tens of millions of players around the world, Final Fantasy XIV is one of the most popular games of all time — and now Japan’s Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra is set to breathe new life into its iconic soundtrack to life during a series of concerts in Riyadh.
Echoes of Eorzea: A Decade of Final Fantasy XIV in Symphony, hosted by Qiddiya City in partnership with game developer Square Enix, will take place on November 28 and 29 at Princess Nourah University Red Hall.
More than 100 expert orchestra musicians will be accompanied by a captivating chorus and two powerful vocalists, with synchronised visual effects bringing the epic battles, emotional reunions and breathtaking landscapes to life.
The concert will feature iconic pieces from Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and all the expansions leading up to Endwalker, as well as notable tracks from the wider game series.
A dedicated merchandise area will feature exclusive items and other products shipped directly from Tokyo, while Diamond ticket holders will have the opportunity to meet producer and director Naoki Yoshida, sound director and composer Masayoshi Soken, senior story designer Natsuko Ishikawa and localisation supervisor Michael-Christopher Koji Fox.
Those purchasing the top-tier package will receive access to the meet-and-greet after the performance, a signed poster, photo and several exclusive VIP perks.
Back in August, Qiddiya City partnered with Square Enix to bring Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to The Boulevard during the 2024 Esports World Cup.
Visitors were able to immerse themselves in a massive interactive experience with scaled replicas of in-game vehicles Tiny Bronco and the Buggy.
Since its relaunch in 2013 with A Realm Reborn, Final Fantasy XIV has enjoyed a stunning resurgence from the first expansion pack to 2021’s Endwalker.
Each expansion continues the epic tale that has spanned the past decade — a gripping saga of light against dark that has kept players coming back for more.
The latest release has players embarking on a brand-new adventure with the recent launch of Dawntrail in July.
A few weeks ago, the hotly anticipated boxing game Undisputed dropped at Riyadh Season, letting fans get right in on the action in the Saudi capital.
Announcing the launch, General Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki Alalshikh said the title will feature a "star-studded roster, cutting-edge fight mechanics and real-world boxing organisations".
It’s been over a decade since the last release, and players will be able to step into the ring and experience into what developers Steel City Interactive promise is the most "visceral, authentic, and interactive" gameplay yet.
Under a partnership signed last year, players can see the Riyadh Season brand within the video game and have access to a virtual version of the Saudi capital's Kingdom Arena.
