The global motorsport landscape is undergoing its most radical evolution since the inception of Formula E, and Saudi Arabia is once again the anchor point for the future of racing. And now it has been confirmed that the FIA H World Cup will return to Qiddiya City, from October 29 - 31, 2026.

Sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), this landmark event marks a massive shift in sustainable high-performance sports. Rather than choosing between the roar of traditional combustion engines and the silence of electric vehicles, the FIA H World Cup showcases hydrogen technology—delivering extreme, track-ready power while emitting nothing but pure water vapour.

The return of the FIA H World Cup, also known as Extreme H, aligns with a transformative chapter in Qiddiya City's development, as the ambitious mega-destination transitions from blueprint to reality. The global racing event will be framed by a rapidly maturing entertainment landscape: Six Flags Qiddiya City successfully welcomed its first guests in December 2025, closely followed by the grand opening of the massive Aquarabia water park during the Eid Al Fitr break.

Simultaneously, construction is moving at an unrelenting pace on the revolutionary Speed Park Track — poised to become one of the world's most technologically advanced motorsport circuits — as well as the signature Sir Nick Faldo 18-hole championship golf course, which is on track to open its doors later this year.

When is the Event Coming to Qiddiya City?

It has just been announced that the FIA H World Cup will return to Qiddiya in October 2026.  Slated to run across three days, from Thursday, October 29 through to Saturday, October 30, 2026.

FIA H World Cup is the world’s first-ever premier championship dedicated entirely to hydrogen-powered motorsport, and marks a pioneering leap in the global clean energy transition, blending cutting-edge hydrogen technology with elite, off-road motorsport.

Teams are made up of a mandatory male-female duo and each compete in identical, 550-horsepower "Pioneer 25" all-terrain vehicles that emit nothing but pure water vapour.

This off-road racing series serves as a high-octane testbed for the future of clean automotive tech, replacing traditional batteries with advanced hydrogen fuel cell systems. The teams tackle some of the planet's most challenging terrains — with Saudi Arabia's Qiddiya City anchoring the global calendar as a flagship host venue. Rather than standard laps, the off-road course is designed for short-format, high-intensity multidisciplinary racing. It features technical twisting sectors for Time Trials and wider, dirt-flinging straightaways tailored for aggressive, wheel-to-wheel knockout duels and head-to-head finals.

The race aims to seamlessly unite pioneering green innovation with a strict commitment to diversity on the track.

The Track

For the FIA H World Cup, the track configuration is entirely distinct from a traditional paved circuit used in other motorsport events. Because Extreme H is an off-road racing series for hydrogen-powered Pioneer 25 vehicles, the track is a purpose-built off-road course carved directly into the rugged desert landscape of Qiddiya City.

The track leverages Qiddiya's natural, punishing topography, featuring a mix of heavy sand, loose gravel, technical dirt tracks, and sharp elevation drops set against the dramatic backdrop of the Tuwaiq Mountains.

The Future of Racing & Saudi Arabia

For Saudi Arabia, hosting the FIA H World Cup is a deliberate step forward under Vision 2030. The Kingdom is heavily investing in becoming a global exporter of green and blue hydrogen, making the event a seamless fusion of national energy strategy and world-class entertainment.

On the tarmac, or rather, in the sand, FIA H racing fans can expect the competitive tension and tactical pit stops of classic endurance racing, but with a completely clean environmental footprint. For the modern racing enthusiast, the message from Qiddiya is clear: the future of speed will not be compromised — it is simply being reinvented.
