Launched in 2022, the Music Open Hub, or Saudi Music Hub, has been a pioneering initiative established by the Saudi Music Commission, one of eleven sector-specific bodies operating under the Kingdom's Ministry of Culture. The creation of this programme is a direct strategic goal of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to build a vibrant and sustainable domestic music sector.
The primary function of the Music Hub initiative is to serve as a comprehensive centre for music education, talent development, and industry empowerment. The Hub's methodology is distinguished by its comprehensiveness, wide educational scope, and geographical spread across the Kingdom. Initial branches have been inaugurated in major cities, including Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar, to cater to nationwide demand.
Providing Saudis with structured learning opportunities across a diverse curricula, with instruction in both Arabic and Western musical instruments, these Music Hubs are destinations of learning and understanding. Along with specialised technical training in areas such as computer music production and song coordination skills - these Music Open Hub locations also act as educational tracks designed for individuals of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds, supporting both casual learners and professionals aiming for the music performance industry.
Beyond education, the facilities serve as vital infrastructure for the creative sector in Saudi Arabia. Each Music Hub features state-of-the-art resources, including cutting-edge recording studios, rehearsal spaces, sound systems, in addition to giving attendees access to live performance halls, and top of the range music libraries. The strategic intent of these growing Music Hubs is to foster creativity, facilitate networking, and drive year-round creative production within a world-class environment, each aspect is guided by and supports the Kingdom's continued drive towards Vision 2030.
The establishment of the Music Hubs aligns with the Music Commission's broader strategy, which is founded on five key pillars: Education, Production, Performance, Advocacy, and Licensing. By providing physical centres for learning and creation, the Music Open Hub directly contributes to the goal of cultivating local musical talent and establishing Saudi Arabia as a leading regional music production centre.
