The Belmond brand is synonymous with luxury travel, and in particular, with timeless train travel. And, the newest addition to the Belmond rail experiences, the Britannic Explorer, is set to redefine indulgent train travel in the United Kingdom.
Experience the exclusive luxury of the Britannic Explorer, the first luxury sleeper train in England and Wales, as you journey through breathtaking landscapes. This magnificent train will embark on a select number of captivating journeys through the heart of Britain, offering an unparalleled rail experience for the most discerning of travellers.
Often, the thought of train journeys in the UK conjures vivid images or previous experiences of incessant misery; those long, dull morning commutes, touching against strangers in packed carriages, waiting on the platform in the cold and of course, the inevitable delays. Uninspiring, colourless and monotonous.
However, a new era of luxury rail travel is emerging, with Belmond at the fore promising to redefine and re-centre your thoughts on rail experiences. Fear not - these feelings and emotions are all set to change with the launch of the Britannic Explorer.
A Luxurious Retreat on Wheels
The Britannic Explorer is not just a mode of transportation; it's an indulgent hotel on wheels.
A intriguingly indulgent all-suite offering, the luxury sleeper train has been designed by London-based studio Albion Nord. The train carts have been designed to maximise the space, whilst creating a lavish ambiance. With elegant interiors that evoke the timeless beauty of Britain, the bespoke decor infuses the fresh greens of the Welsh countryside, and the hues of blue found in the waters of Cornwall, to wholly embrace and embody the passing landscapes.
Both the spacious Suites and the opulent Grand Suites are meticulously designed, offering unparalleled comfort and style for a truly luxurious travel experience.
Suites
The Belmond Britannic Explorer offers a range of luxurious accommodations, including both double and twin suites, each designed with comfort and elegance in mind. In both categories of suites, adorning the walls are signed art pieces and designs created by English artist and designer Luke Edward Hall.
Grand Suites
The Britannic Explorer has three Grand Suites onboard – Elder, Valerian, and Juniper – offer a luxurious travel experience like no other. Uniquely designed to capture the vibrant beauty of an English country garden, the Grand Suites provide a coveted space for relaxation and indulgence as we journey across Great Britain's historic railways. Guests staying in the Grand Suites will also enjoy a complimentary spa experience during their trip, and will also be tended to by a private butler for the duration of the stay.
Each category of stylish and comfortable onboard chamber invites guests to indulge in unrestricted views over the British countryside from their personal quarters, complete with a private bathroom, relatively ample storage space, and of course, the unparalleled comfort and indulgent ever associated with Belmond.
A Cultural Odyssey
The Britannic Explorer offers a diverse range of cultural experiences; from exploring historic sites and indulging in outdoor adventures to immersing oneself in local traditions, the itineraries are meticulously designed to cater to every traveller's interests.
Offering three-night journeys on three select routes, the Belmond Britannic will journey through the awe-inspiring, beautiful natural landscapes of Cornwall, The Lake District, and Wales. And with a selection of off-board tours and activities, you can ensure your top-notch experience continues for the duration of your trip.

Bespoke & Sustainable Fine-Dining
Despite the unique setting aboard a moving train, dining aboard the Britannic will be a culinary highlight.
The internationally renowned chef Simon Rogan has curated exquisite menus showcasing the best of British cuisine. The menus for each meal - a classic afternoon tea experience, lunch and dinner - have been designed to embrace the 'farm-to-fork' movement, and are each curated using the finest seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, from artisanal and small-scale producers.
Guests can indulge in a gastronomic journey that will tantalise their taste buds and leave a lasting impression.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Belmond is committed to sustainable practices and has taken steps to minimise the environmental impact of the Britannic Explorer: the train is equipped with energy-efficient technology and uses eco-friendly cleaning products. Additionally, given chef Simon Rogan's stance on utilising in-season ingredients, this sustainability commitment follows right through to the meals served on board.
