Luxury often announces itself immediately. Miraval The Red Sea takes a quieter approach. In fact, the sense of ease begins before you even leave the terminal.
After landing at Red Sea International Airport, I was greeted with a smile and a simple reassurance: there would be no waiting. My luggage would go directly to my room while I travelled across Shura Island in a colourful electric vehicle, passing pristine stretches of coastline. Before I’d even checked in, the resort had already begun doing what it does best: slowing everything down.
In Short:
From locking my phone in a leather pouch to leaving the 3,000-square-metre spa floating, my time at Miraval The Red Sea revealed an adults-only sanctuary where raw nature, design, and authentic wellness take centre stage. Miraval The Red Sea proves that the greatest luxury is not what it adds to your stay, but what it encourages you to leave behind.
The Location
Situated on Shura Island — the main hub of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea project — Miraval The Red Sea offers an secluded sanctuary enveloped by turquoise lagoons, thriving coral reefs, and untouched mangrove forests. Guests arrive via Red Sea International Airport (RSI), which serves direct domestic flights alongside expanding international routes. From the airport, a short 30-minute journey across the inland sea via private boat or eco-friendly water taxi brings travellers straight to Shura Island, landing directly into a landscape defined by serene marine ecosystems and quiet coastal luxury.
From the first moment, the view from the lobby tells you everything about what you can expect from your stay. Turquoise water stretches towards dense mangrove forests, creating a scene that feels almost untouched. Saudi Arabia’s Shura Island forms part of one of the world’s richest marine ecosystems, where coral reefs and crystal-clear waters create a setting that feels wonderfully removed from everyday life.
The Background & Design
Rooted in a philosophy of mindful living and holistic balance, Miraval has long been globally revered for its intent-driven approach to wellness, encouraging guests to slow down and create lasting alignment between mind, body, and spirit. After opening for the first time outside of the USA, Miraval The Red Sea welcomed its first guests on May 15, 2026.
Making its regional debut in the Middle East, Miraval The Red Sea translates this heritage of quiet luxury into a striking architectural narrative designed by Foster + Partners. Rather than competing with its surroundings, the architecture of Miraval The Red Sea quietly complements them. The resort’s low-rise, organic structures blend effortlessly into the coastal landscape, from the soft earth tones, shaded timber walkways, and contemporary communal spaces that frame uninterrupted views of the sea and surrounding mangroves.
Allowing nature to remain the focal point, nothing feels unnecessary here. Every detail has been considered with purpose, quietly reinforcing the resort’s philosophy of mindful living.
The Rooms & Suites
Ranging from 47-square-metre king guest rooms to expansive multi-bedroom beachfront villas, Miraval’s 180 rooms, suites, and villas overlook either the Red Sea or the island’s golf course, yet the emphasis extends well beyond the views. Similar to the overall design of the resort, the interiors feature organic textures, soft sand hues, and coral-inspired accents.
Every room unfolds onto a private outdoor terrace framing uninterrupted views of either the inland sea, manicured golf greenery, or untouched coastal mangroves. Inside, mindful touches take centre stage — each sanctuary is outfitted with a Tibetan singing bowl, a meditation cushion, and Miraval’s signature cloud-like bedding, alongside integrated sound systems above the headboards playing restorative natural soundscapes. For ultimate seclusion, the private oceanfront villas add personal plunge pools, outdoor rainfall showers, and seamless indoor-outdoor living spaces that step directly onto the island’s white sands.
The Dining
Healthy dining often carries with it the misconception of compromise. Rosemary, the resort's signature sit-down main restaurant quickly dispels this idea. At Miraval, food is made with love and served with purpose. The resort’s signature restaurant serves a menu that evolves daily, and is curated to embrace seasonal ingredients. Rather than feeling restrictive, the dishes demonstrate how nourishing food can be every bit as satisfying as indulgent.
Palm Court Café serves as a relaxed, pool-adjacent hub offering artisanal baked goods in the mornings, vibrant wraps and salads, and freshly blended wellness smoothies throughout the day. Set along the edge of the island, Coral Cove transitions from a peaceful daytime spot for light refreshments into an intimate evening retreat featuring sharing plates and zero-proof botanical cocktails.
Cooking workshops complete the offering for those keen to continue the experience beyond their stay.
Wellness & Spa
Mornings begin with breathing exercises and guided meditation at the Serenity Centre. These aren’t itinerary fillers, they’re practices designed to outlast the holiday itself. The infinity pool opens onto uninterrupted sea views, while those seeking a challenge can take on Miraval’s signature experiences. Completing one left me with an unexpected sense of confidence, a reminder that wellbeing is as much about mindset as relaxation. The fitness offering follows suit. Pilates, overwater yoga, and personalised training sessions all prioritise balance over intensity.
The Life in Balance Spa spans more than 3,000 sq m, bringing together 39 treatment rooms, hydrotherapy pools, traditional hammams, salt rooms, and open-air treatment suites. Impressive though the facilities are, the experience is defined less by scale than by ritual. Each treatment begins with the ringing of Miraval’s signature bell, marking a deliberate pause between the outside world and the one you’ve entered. Among the extensive treatment offerings, the Thai Rope Massage gently releases deep-seated tension, while the floating therapy experience proved unforgettable. Suspended on the water, with music playing beneath the surface, it creates an extraordinary feeling of weightlessness.

The Staff and Service
The staff at Miraval The Red Sea embodies the epitome of effortless hospitality. Behind that seamless experience, however, lies an immense amount of care, precision, and silent dedication behind the scenes. From the moment you step onto Shura Island to your final departure, the team works with a quiet, synchronised precision, anticipating desires before they are even voiced. Rather than adhering to rigid, scripted service, interactions feel genuinely intuitive and personal, striking that rare, perfect balance between deep attentiveness and complete respect for guest privacy.
Something Standout - The Feeling
Trust me when I say, you will leave Miraval The Red Sea feeling different, and carrying yourself differently. After visiting countless luxury resorts, what stayed with me after leaving Miraval The Red Sea, was not a particular suite or spa treatment, but a feeling. Miraval The Red Sea never asks guests to do more. Instead, it gently encourages them to do less, to slow down, notice their surroundings, and leave with a clearer mind than when they arrived.
