Saudia brings flat-bed luxury to short-haul Singapore – Bali route

Saudi Arabia’s national carrier, Saudia, has introduced a compelling new option for premium travellers on one of Southeast Asia’s most popular leisure routes - Singapore to Bali.

Following the launch of Saudia’s 'fifth freedom' flights between Singapore (SIN) and Bali Denpasar (DPS) in March 2025, the Saudi Arabian carrier has now unveiled a full-service Business Class offering with fully flat-bed seats, this is widely considered an uncommon luxury for such a short-haul route. Operating three times weekly, this recently launched flight route is just 2 hours and 40 minutes in duration.

Initially reserved for passengers traveling to or from Jeddah, Saudia’s Singapore to Bali segment received approval for fifth freedom traffic in August 2025. This makes Saudia the third airline to offer flat-bed Business Class on this route, joining Singapore Airlines and KLM. Although the Singapore to Bali flight clocks in at just under three hours, the flat-bed feature adds a layer of comfort that is relatively unmatched by most regional competitors. For those travelling on the longer Jeddah–Singapore leg, which exceeds nine hours, the lie-flat design becomes essential for rest and productivity.

Everything you need to know about Saudia Business Class

The Kingdom's national carrier was awarded the prestigious “World Class Airline 2024” title by the APEX Official Airline Ratings™ for the third consecutive year, and Saudia, has also earned a prestigious spot on Skytrax’s list of airlines offering the World’s Best Business Class for 2025. Operating primarily with its Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, Saudia’s Business Class cabin includes 24 Collins Aerospace Super Diamond seats arranged in a reverse herringbone 1-2-1 layout, ensuring direct aisle access for every passenger. These seats convert into fully flat beds, stretching up to 78 inches, and come equipped with 17-inch HD touchscreens, AC and USB-A charging ports, and satellite Wi-Fi, which is free for Business Class guests.

Something that might be noteworthy for travellers is that Saudia is a dry airline. Saudia does not serve alcohol in any cabin, instead, it offers passengers a curated selection of non-alcoholic beverages, including Arabic coffee, specialty teas, and fresh juices. For some travellers, this may align well with wellness-focused travel, or may not be of significance especially on short-haul routes.

What is a fifth freedom flight?

A 'fifth freedom flight' refers to a flight that operates under one of the Freedoms of the Air policy, specifically a fifth freedom route where an airline carries passengers between two foreign countries that are not its home country. For Saudia, this means a flight such as their Singapore to Bali route, which serves passengers traveling between these two countries without needing to originate from or end in Saudi Arabia.
