In a significant step towards further enhancing the capital's commitment urban mobility, Riyadh Transport has launched a Metro Bus On Demand service.
Complementing the very popular Riyadh Metro, his new public bus service is a strategic initiative designed to seamlessly integrate with the city's burgeoning metro system, it aims to bridge the gap between residential areas and the city's key metro stations, offering residents a convenient and efficient transport solution.
Operating across seven strategically selected zones, the Bus On Demand service connects passengers from designated pick-up points directly to major transport hubs. These zones, encompassing Ghirnatah, Aqiq and Hittin, Yarmouk and Ishbiliyah, Qurtuba, AlWadi, Al Falah and An Nada, West Al-Uraija and Tuwaiq, Andalus and An Nahdah, and Aziziyah, cover a wide swathe of the city, ensuring accessibility for a large segment of the population.
The service is designed for maximum convenience, offering two flexible ticketing options: passengers can purchase a combined pass for the Riyadh Public Transport (RPT) and the Bus On Demand service through the user-friendly Darb App. Alternatively, a standalone Bus On Demand ticket can also be purchased via the same Darb App, providing a streamlined and hassle-free booking experience.
The full and regular schedule for the new Riyadh Metro Bus On Demand has not yet been released. However, the Ramadan schedule runs from Sunday to Thursday, from 7.30am to midnight, on Fridays from 11.30am to midnight, and on Saturdays from 9.30am to midnight.
This expansion of Riyadh's public transport infrastructure reflects the city's commitment to creating a sustainable and efficient urban environment. The Metro Bus On Demand service, by providing a crucial "last-mile" connection, enhances the overall accessibility and convenience of the Riyadh Metro, encouraging residents to embrace public transport as a viable and reliable alternative to private vehicles.
