As Saudi Arabia continues to solidify its global presence and invites international visitors to experience its rich cultural landscape, regular and direct routes to and from the Kingdom is becoming increasingly essential.
For both business and leisure, modern travellers rely on flexible flight options, reliable direct connections, and expansive route networks when planning cross-continental journeys. To support this growing momentum and respond to rising international passenger demand, national flag carrier Saudia has joined forces with the Saudi Air Connectivity Program to deliver a significant boost to its intercontinental transit capacity throughout 2026.
The announcement, formally released on August 20, 2026, marks a joint operational effort to scale up frequency across three key global flight corridors. Together, the extra frequencies will introduce five new weekly flights across the selected destinations, expanding total capacity by more than 428,000 annual seats across both travel directions. This major route investment reflects ongoing commitments to expand the Kingdom’s international destination footprint while strengthening direct links with high-priority global markets.

North American connectivity receives the largest individual increase through a major update to the transatlantic network. Saudia is adding three additional weekly flights between John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. This adjustment elevates the service to a convenient daily operation, providing travellers with seamless non-stop schedules and bringing the route's total capacity to more than 211,000 annual seats in both directions.
At the same time, direct connections between Saudi Arabia and major commercial hubs in China are undergoing targeted expansion. One extra weekly flight is being integrated into the Guangzhou to Jeddah sector, increasing total frequency to four weekly flights and unlocking over 124,000 annual seats. Additionally, the capital connection between Beijing Daxing International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh gains one extra weekly flight, taking the schedule to three weekly departures with an annual capacity exceeding 93,000 seats.

These operational enhancements serve as an executive enabler for both the National Tourism Strategy and the National Aviation Sector Strategy under the umbrella of Saudi Vision 2030. By building close public and private sector partnerships across the aviation ecosystem, the Air Connectivity Program continues to work toward the Kingdom’s overarching goal of establishing direct air connectivity with 250 international destinations by 2030.
