The sheer cliff edges, the rocky terrain and the expansive desert of Tuwaiq is the landscape of choice for many postcards, magazine covers, Instagram posts and adventure escapes.

With such a challenging landscape, Tuwaiq makes for the most unlikely location for a race event, however the Tuwaiq Trail Race returns for the third time. Set to take place on Saturday November 11, fitness fanatics and amateur athletes alike will choose between 10km, 20km and 50km courses and take on the challenging terrain head on.

The terrain of Tuwaiq is iconic: arid, unforgiving, beautiful, and seemingly endless. And, now will be the location of possibly one of the toughest races in the Kingdom.

Participants taking on the AlArid Ultra Trail will experience a total ascent and descent of 501 meters across the 50.1km trail. With a start time of 5am and a ten hour cut off time, this is not a race for the faint-hearted or unfit.

Whether you're actively racing against others, or choosing to race against yourself with the aim to achieve a personal goal, this will definitely be a challenge. Run, walk, climb - but make sure to take in the views, enjoy the challenge and complete your trail of choice.
