The Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) will return to the Kingdom for its fourth edition, from December 5 through to December 14.

A celebration of both regional and international film, the RSIFF highlights emerging cinematic creations alongside a number of local talent from actors and screenwriters to directors, from across the Middle East and North Africa regions. Pivoting on captivating storytelling, the film festival brings together incredible up-and-coming talents and gives them a stage (or more aptly, a screen) to showcase their works.

Usually centring on an assigned theme, previous editions of the RSIFF also included a number competitive elements.

The Red Sea: Competition and Red Sea: Shorts Competition, encompass short stories, independent creations and documentaries from Asia, Africa, and the Arab world that use or showcase pioneering cinematic techniques and offer compelling and unique narratives. Prizes are awarded by an international jury, with last year's event being presided over by the renowned filmmaker, Baz Luhrmann.

The Kingdom is fast becoming a go-to destination and location for international filming, and NEOM is being positioned as a hub for film creation with talented crews available.

Winner of the Jury Prize in 2022, 'Within Sand' has just been released nationwide in cinemas. The first movie to be filmed exclusively in NEOM with an all-Saudi cast, the Mohammed Alatawi directed block buster first debuted to a small audience at the RSIFF, and now has marked a significant milestone in Saudi cinema.

In 2023, the RSIFF showcased approximately 125 different films from 75 countries.
