From ultra-luxurious suites for glamorous date nights to kiddie screening rooms complete with slides, sweets and play areas, there’s a movie theatre to suit every kind of outing.
Most of Jeddah’s cinemas are housed inside the city’s biggest malls, so there’s always the option to turn a trip to the cinema into a full day out, and make the most of the nearby restaurants, shops and entertainment centres without even having to leave the building. So grab your popcorn, settle in and enjoy – here's our guide to the best cinemas in Jeddah.
1. VOX Cinemas
VOX is one of the KSA’s most popular cinema chains, offering movie outings that come with a lot of extras – think luxury menus, amped-up viewing technology, lounges and private screening halls.
Jeddah currently has three VOX venues – Jeddah Park, Red Sea Mall and Town Square – with more slated to open soon. Between them, these cinemas offer several upgraded viewings including ICE (immersive cinema experience) screenings, private cinemas for couples or groups, and Gold tickets.
Gold tickets include choices from an à la carte menu, which includes sushi, burgers, salads, nachos and more, all of which are served right to your seat. You also get access to an exclusive lounge that you can hang out in before and after the showing. If you’re treating the family to a day out, opt for the family-friendly Red Sea Mall branch which has a special kids screening room decked out with colourful seats. There’s also heaps to do with children in the mall afterwards, including Sparky’s – a massive amusement park with rides, soft play and video games. A standard ticket costs SAR 35.
2. Muvi Cinemas
The ever-popular KSA chain Muvi has five cinemas in Jeddah offering a diverse range of experiences, whether you’re looking for a luxury date night, a family outing or a low-key movie night with friends. Atelier La Vie, Mall of Arabia, Haifa Mall, Yasmin Mall and Aziz Mall all have branches (choose Mall of Arabia if you want to treat yourself to some designer shopping afterwards – Coach, DKNY, Michael Kors and lots of other big-name brands have outlets here).Muvi offers certain films on Screen X, a panoramic, wrap-around cinema screen that extends along the walls of the auditorium for extra-intense visuals.
