Night owls visiting Jeddah won’t be disappointed . There’s an action-packed nightlife here, with endless places to socialise and fun things to do after the sun goes down – late-night theme parks, comedy events, coffee shops, lounges and much more.
For many tourists, a night out in Jeddah is a rare chance to experience a buzzing nightlife culture that doesn’t revolve around alcohol, and it’s often a pleasant surprise.
Whether you’re travelling with family and want to make the most of the cooler evenings, or planning to dress up and stay out late with friends, these are just some of the top things to do at night in Jeddah.
1. Have a giggle at Line Up Comedy Show
Comedy is huge in Jeddah, and there’s a popular night currently running at The Venue Corniche every Friday. Line Up Comedy Show runs improv nights, stand-up comedy sessions and occasional shows by touring international comedians. The stand-up nights typically have a different host each week to introduce the group of comedians for the evening – expect plenty of satire, hilarious storytelling and funny punchlines. There are two showings a night, and events are often sold out; book in advance to secure a seat.
2. Go wild at theme park Al Shallal
This sprawling entertainment zone is right on the Corniche and is definitely up there as one of the most fun things to do at night in Jeddah. Al Shallal includes everything from rollercoasters and carousels to bowling, ice-skating, arcade games, boat rides and even an illusionist show. One of the most hair-raising rides is the Sling Shot which ejects riders at speeds of up to 100 kph before bouncing them down to a launch pad.
Gentler rides for younger kids include the classic Tea Cups and a merry-go-round. This is a great spot for socialising with families or friends late at night as there are plenty of on-site restaurants (including Lebanese and Chinese food) and snack stalls to keep everyone’s energy levels high. The park is open from 4.30pm to 1.30am from Saturday to Tuesday, and 4.30pm to 2am on Thursday and Friday. Wednesday is Ladies’ Day between 4pm and 1.30am.
3. Enjoy the cool night air along Jeddah Corniche
One of the most obvious reasons to stay up late in Jeddah is to make the most of the cooler hours – the temperature drops when the sun goes down and warm days transform into breezy, balmy evenings. Jeddah Corniche – 30km of walkways, parks, gardens and beaches stretching along the Red Sea coast – really comes into its own at night. Many families head down to the waterfront to picnic, stroll, grab ice cream or admire King Fahd’s fountain, which is illuminated to dazzling effect after dark. Paths are well-lit, the area is super safe and the atmosphere is very kid-friendly, even past midnight.
4. Drink coffee in the city’s coolest cafes
The late-night scene in Jeddah is synonymous with its coffee shops. Whether you prefer authentic Arabic coffee, flavoured lattes or artisan pour-overs, there will definitely be a cafe in the city to suit you. These venues are havens for anyone who wants to stay out late with friends in a cool, laid-back setting and are often busy until early in the morning. See-and-be-seen spots, such as the popular Sculpture, are perfect for people-watching and snapping a picture of your barista-brewed drink, while others such as Local’s Cafe are more relaxed, ideal for chatting or playing games. Many coffee shops open until 3am.
5. Take a night tour of the city
Jeddah at night is an entirely different experience – anyone not confident about navigating the city after dark by themselves can take the pressure off and book a tour. Saudi Arabia Tours offers a Jeddah By Night Tour that includes classic sights and experiences on a driving tour with plenty of stops.
You’ll visit one of the world’s biggest LED screens on the facade of King’s Road Tower, upscale fashion spot Tahlia Street for shopping and coffee, and the Jeddah Corniche, with time to take photos of King Fahd’s Fountain. The guide can also include a stop at the ever-popular Red Sea Mall, which has a kid’s play area as well as shops and restaurants. Jeddah is known to be very safe, making this a fun option even if you're visiting the city on a solo trip.
6. Dress up for the city’s late-night lounges
Jeddah’s lounge scene has really started coming into its own recently. A host of new venues are pulling in the glam crowds with stylish decor, creative mocktails and often dazzling city views too. Award-winning Siddharta Lounge at the top of Assila Hotel pulls out all the stops with its outdoor poolside seating, the beautiful panoramic views over Jeddah, flamboyant drinks and a menu that’s perfect for sharing.
Another firm favourite, Kaia, is based right on Jeddah’s waterfront, giving you a front-row seat to sunsets over the Red Sea if you time your visit right. Sip on a refreshing Pacific Rim-inspired mocktail, get stuck into the platters of nibbles, bop to the resident DJ and soak up the cool coastal vibes. Note that some lounges close for the summer months; check opening hours in advance to avoid disappointment.
7. Hit Jeddah’s liveliest music venues
Feel like some jazz, classical, Arabic music or an upbeat DJ set? Music performances and events are regularly held across town, so there’s bound to be a venue that will suit your mood. Check out trendy Genres, with its lively program of artists from across the Middle East almost every night until 1am, often performing Arabic, Tarab or fusion music; a DJ set follows until 3am.
For more traditional and classical performances, keep an eye on the Saudi Music Hub website, where concerts are listed in advance. Jeddah Season, the city-wide culture and entertainment festival that takes place in the summer months, always includes some world-class live concerts too.
