The best parks in Dammam
Take a relaxing walk through Dammam's lovely parks

Dammam, the capital of Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, may be known for its vibrant waterfront, shopping centres, and as the base of the nation’s burgeoning oil industry, but it is also home to some of the region’s best parks.

Dammam’s parks are where locals gather for picnics, exercise and social events. As well as open green spaces, many of Dammam’s parks have amusement park sections for older kids. Generally, as with all of Saudi Arabia’s green urban spaces, these are family-friendly areas and are filled on the weekends and evenings with parents and children.

1. King Fahd Park

The biggest park in Dammam, King Fahd Park – also known as Life Park – is spread over 150,000 square metres and contains vast grassed spaces, flowers, and even wooded areas, as well as several artificial lakes where paddleboats can be rented.

It is also known for walking paths and cycling trails, and is popular in the evenings and the early mornings with exercise enthusiasts trying to keep fit and avoid the heat.

For families with older kids, there are amusement rides and playgrounds, while the shaded areas and barbecue facilities are good spots for picnics. Entrance to the park is free, but there are fees for rides and some attractions.

2. Half Moon Bay Beach Park

If you can’t decide whether you prefer beaches or parks, Half Moon Bay Beach is for you. A short drive from central Dammam, it is a pristine stretch of Arabian Gulf coastline, fringed by picnic spots and green spaces and known for its calm, shallow waters, making it a safe and popular spot for families with children. There are five public beaches in all, and visitors are advised to bring food and drink with them as there is little by way of amenities.

The park is a favourite for picnics, barbecues and even camping, with plenty of shaded areas and facilities. For those looking for watersports, jet skis are available to rent and some other water activities are available. Whether you prefer to relax by the water or get active, this is one of the only spaces to cool off during Dammam's hotter months: as such it gets busy. Entrance is free to the public beaches, but note that some of Half Moon Bay is private and open only to employees of Saudi Aramco and their guests.

3. Marjan Island

Marjan Island – also known as ‘Coral Island’ – on Dammam's waterfront is a man-made island connected to the mainland by a bridge and offers stunning views of the city. There is also a viewing platform which is popular with locals at sunset due to its panoramic views of the Corniche. With well-manicured gardens and walking paths, it is an escape from the bustle of the city. Parking is available, and entry is free.

4. Prince Saud Bin Naif Park

Officially in Dhahran and in the shadow of the Hilton and two of the city’s biggest malls, Prince Saud Bin Naif Park is an understated but attractive park with fountains, lush trees and vegetation that provides for a peaceful atmosphere in the middle of the city. It isn’t a destination park in itself, but if you find yourself in Dhahran with a hankering for some greenery, there are worse places to kill an hour with a sandwich and a cold drink. As well as shaded seating areas and walking paths, there are playgrounds for children. Entry is free.

5. Dammam Corniche Park

Stretching along the waterfront, Dammam Corniche Park offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf while its wide range of activities make it a favourite for both locals and tourists.

The Corniche is ideal for picnics, jogging, cycling, or relaxing with family and friends, and is particularly popular in the evenings when it captures the cool breeze from the Gulf. It is also home to several small eateries and cafes. Entrance is free.

Home to roller coasters, bumper cars, and various arcade games, Adventure World offers a wide variety of rides and activities for kids and families.

Aside from the rides, Adventure World also contains green spaces where families can relax between rides. While not a “park” per se, Adventure World is an exciting destination for families looking to combine outdoor fun with amusement park thrills. Admission fees vary depending on the activities. Check the website or call ahead for prices.
