If you’ve stumped up for a mid- to high-end hotel, you’ll likely be staying here and spending a lot of time in the neighbourhood, although as with other corniches in the Kingdom – or anywhere – it is best to leave the car at home.
What is the Dammam Corniche?
Like its sister corniches across Saudi Arabia and the world, Dammam Corniche has been thoughtfully landscaped, with large areas of grass and parkland, shaded seating areas, running and cycling tracks, art installations, and food and drink outlets. When it comes to eating and drinking, there are often decent options in the streets for two or three blocks inland. There are lots of play areas for children, and the Corniche is a very popular spot for families with young children way into the evening – especially in the summer months.

Well-paved paths with stunning views of the Arabian Gulf make this a popular spot for joggers in the evening, and the running tracks are sufficiently wide that you should have plenty of space. At 4km from one end to the other, it is the perfect place to smash out a post or pre-work run, depending on the kind of day you’ve had. It is also well lit and busy into the small hours, so – even alone – you can run at night safely.
Grassy areas along the Corniche are perfect for a family picnic or a casual gathering with friends, and there are plenty of shaded areas where you can set up a picnic blanket and enjoy the sea breeze. You can either do as the locals do and bring food and drinks with you, or for a more spontaneous meal, there are budget-friendly food outlets dotted along the stretch.
Explore on two wheels
While cycling is by no means a well-established pastime in Saudi Arabia, the Corniche has well-marked bike lanes, and it is possible to rent bikes at various points along it. As well as two-wheelers and scooters, some outlets rent family-style four-wheel bikes.
Catch your own lunch
If you fancy your chances of catching your own dinner in the Arabian Gulf, there are designated fishing spots along the Corniche to do so. Tourists casting off will certainly be a source of interest – and amusement – but there’s nothing to stop you trying your luck and catching a barracuda or two.

Ferries to Marjan Island typically depart from Dammam Corniche from the marina near the Fisherman’s Wharf. The cost for a round-trip ferry ride can vary but is generally around SAR 20-50 per person, depending on the season and operator.
