The best bars and lounges in Doha

Doha’s nightlife is as vibrant and glamorous as you’d imagine, with bars, clubs and lounges to suit all tastes. There are boho dance parties, elegant rooftop spaces, and pulsing nightclubs dotted throughout the city, most of which stay open until 2am. Nightlife spots tend to be inside the more high-end hotels and resorts, and most dress codes are smart-casual. The late-night crowds tend to go for a glamorous, sophisticated look – bring your best threads if you’re planning any big nights out. These are the best bars and lounges in Doha.

1. Wahm Lounge Doha

Expect to find a young, energetic crowd at W Doha Hotel’s Wahm Lounge, where DJs, bands and singers keep everyone on the dancefloor. The sleek, stylish indoor venue spills out onto an open-air poolside terrace, where tables line the gently illuminated swimming pool. It’s more of a place for mocktails and dancing than eating, but if you get peckish later in the evening, there’s a decent menu of bar snacks and sharing plates. Wahm is especially popular on weekends, drawing a fun-loving mix of expats, locals, and travellers. It’s open every night from 5pm-2am and remains one of the capital’s most popular nightclubs.

2. Sky View, La Cigale Hotel

One of Doha’s best late bars, the gloriously open-air Sky View, on the rooftop of La Cigale Hotel, is a sophisticated place to spend the evening. International and local DJs are booked almost every night of the week, but the atmosphere is usually chilled enough to just sit and chat with friends over some expertly mixed mocktails. It’s also a great spot for a date, so arrive just before sunset to nab a table on the terrace’s edge and watch the sun set over the gleaming Doha cityscape. Saturdays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays have a permanent happy hour, so time your visit to make the most of great deals. Sky View is open until 2am every night except Sunday.

The Den

3. The Den

If low lighting and live jazz are your thing, look no further than The Den. This old-world, European-style piano bar is housed in the JW Marriott Marquis City Center, and offers a completely different vibe from some of the flashier bars in the capital. This is a mellow, comfortable place to settle in for the evening, enjoy the beautifully mixed drinks and soak up the sounds of the night’s singers and pianists. A light menu of appetisers, steaks, burgers and desserts is available too. The crowd tends to be a mix of expats and business travellers, and the atmosphere is always relaxed rather than raucous. It’s open until 2am every night except Sunday.

Monkey Tale

4. Monkey Tale

Monkey Tale is Doha’s ultimate boho beach party. Sprawling out over the sand at the Grand Hyatt, the venue is all breezy white drapes, secluded cabanas and soft seating, perfect for relaxing with a chilled mocktail in hand. By day, the vibe is low-key and laid-back but after dark, especially on Fridays, Monkey Tale transforms into a full-on party with themed events, DJs, and good times under the stars. It’s a must for anyone who loves to dance with the sand between their toes, so don’t expect to have your shoes on by the end of the night. It’s open until midnight every night, and the club hosts regular themed nights, outdoor movie screenings and drinks deals.
