Already an area a much-celebrated and visited during the summer months for its fresh mountain air and cooler climes, there is now a new reason to visit Asir.
A monumental 120-metre-high dancing fountain has been unveiled at the newly developed Al Wadi Resort in the Asir region. The new attraction is designed to serve as a key economic and leisure driver. It provides an enticing destination for regional travellers and international visitors looking to escape the traditional summer heat.
Built at a cost exceeding SR16 million (US$4.3 million), the engineering behind the marvel is jaw-dropping. The system that allows the fountain to reach spectacular heights pumps over seven million litres of water through its complex system. Reaching up to 120 metres in the air, the dancing fountain in the recently opened Al Wadi Resort has officially earned it the title of the tallest fountain in the Kingdom, the second-highest in the Middle East, and the third-tallest globally.
The record-breaking water feature serves as the dazzling centrepiece for a sprawling 300,000-square-metre integrated tourism and entertainment development. This massive private-sector project features manicured gardens, active farms, indoor event spaces, an open-air theatre, and a diverse collection of cafes and restaurants. A new and comprehensive regional history museum is also set to open next month, further adding to the cultural experience.
Access to the resort grounds and the public viewing areas for the water spectacles is open to the public free of charge. Visitors can experience the full lineup of stage shows, cultural activities, and choreographed fountain performances daily from 1pm until midnight throughout the high summer season.
Choreographed fountain performances take place daily from 1pm - midnight
