As the Kingdom prepares for the Eid al-Adha celebrations and holidays, the Riyadh Metro has announced adjusted operating hours.

The special public transport schedule has been announced to accommodate the expected increase in travel demand across the city. The Eid al-Adha Riyadh Metro schedule will come into effect on Thursday, June 5, and run until Saturday, June 14. Regular scheduling and timings will resume as usual on Sunday, June 15.

During the Eid al-Adha holiday period, the Blue, Red, Yellow, Green and Purple Riyadh Metro Lines will align in terms of a special holiday schedule. However, the Riyadh Public Transport Authority have highlighted that the very popular Orange Line (servicing interchange stations of Qasr Al Hokm linking to the Blue Line, and An Naseem linking to the Purple Line) will run on a unique schedule throughout the Eid al-Adha holiday period.

Additionally, Riyadh buses will continue to run daily from 5am to midnight throughout the Eid holiday, with the Riyadh Metro on-demand bus service available to meet increased transportation needs. With the Eid Al-Adha festivities expected to bring a surge in travel, these adjustments aim to ensure smooth and efficient transportation for residents and visitors alike.

About Riyadh Metro

The Riyadh Metro is the world's longest driverless train system, and officially commenced operations on December 1, 2024, with a phased launch.

Since its launch, the Riyadh Metro has experienced remarkable success, carrying 18 million passengers within its first 75 days of operation. The record breaking, driverless metro system saw an impressive 2 million riders in just its first week, highlighting its rapid adoption and growing popularity. And, in the most recent survey released just last week, it has been revealed that more than 25 million passengers used the Riyadh Metro in the first quarter of 2025, setting new benchmarks for transport efficiency and ridership. The Riyadh Metro network, covering six lines and 84 stations, plays a crucial role in connecting highly populated districts, government facilities, and commercial hubs across the city.

Built to accommodate up to 1.2 million daily riders, the Riyadh Metro has the capacity to expand to 3.6 million passengers with all stations and lines fully operational. Providing seamless connectivity across the city, including to the capital's international airport, it has become a preferred mode of transport for both daily commutes and leisure travel, redefining urban mobility in the capital. The growth in popularity of this new, connected public transport option is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion in Riyadh by decreasing the public's dependence on private vehicles, marking a major step toward a more efficient urban transport network.
