Overlapping Themes

Forward Thinking

The main pillar of Riyadh's bid for Expo 2030 host city also supports a brighter and more inclusive future for all: 'Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow'.

Vision 2030 aims to revolutionise the Kingdom's landscape - physically and theoretically. With multiple inspiring infrastructure mega-projects already in the works ahead of 2030 including the creation of the floating city of OXAGON , the development of AMAALA as part of the Red Sea Project and the ambitious mountain resort of TROJENA to name a few. This ambitious forward-thinking is closely linked to the plan's aim of driving the economy forward through tourism, international business and attracting global industry whilst also providing both Saudis and residents with new and interesting job opportunities.

Both Riyadh Expo 2030 and Vision 2030 will support and encourage entrepreneurship, job creation, and the acquisition of essential skills, and Expo 2030 also aligns with the aim of Vision 2030 to reward determination and ensure access to opportunities for all.

Appreciating the Past

With a rich, cultural history dating back centuries, the nation traces its roots back to the earliest civilisations of the Arabian Peninsula.

In order to look forward, we also need to also look back and appreciate the rich cultural history of the nation. Vision 2030 aims to acknowledge significant historical areas such as AlUla and Diriyah, and encourage the recognition of more UNESCO Heritage Sites in the Kingdom.

Whilst the design of the Expo 2030 district will mirror the ancient urban style, historical heritage, rich culture, and natural essence of Riyadh city. Acknowledging that in order to achieve future progression, it is essential to look back and acknowledge the profound cultural heritage of our country.

Fostering a Global Community & Travel to the Kingdom

Without a doubt, Expo 2030 is an opportunity to share the hopes, dreams and successes of the Kingdom with the world.

As Saudi Arabia looks to diversify its economy beyond oil and gas, Vision 2030 provides an exceptional platform to attract global talents, investments, and innovations through these projects and this aligns synergetically with Expo 2030's aim to gather communities from around the world to share and showcase at an internationally appreciated event.

Riyadh Expo 2030 is expected to attract over 41 million visitors over the course of six months.

Proposing to create an excellent global experience during Riyadh Expo 2030, each participating country will have a dedicated pavilion. The exhibition's pavilions will be strategically located based on longitudes, allowing countries from both the northern and southern hemispheres to stand side by side. This symbolic design showcases the Kingdom's significant role in promoting global cooperation and collaboration, and fostering an international, inclusive community.

Both Riyadh Expo 2030 and Vision 2030 will encourage more international travel to the region, and offers Saudi the opportunity to share our culture, history and future with a far reaching audience, including workers, holiday makers and influential figures.

Supporting Sustainability

Riyadh New Parks

At the heart of Vision 2030 will be supporting a more sustainable and environmentally friendly Saudi, and world.

This ideal is reflected in the emphasising of technology, innovation and sustainability in the creation of the Riyadh Expo 2030 site: hoping to create a seamless journey amidst sustainable nature and a nod to the traditional architecture of the past.

A modern green oasis situated along Wadi As-Sulai's tributaries within the exhibition site will showcase the Kingdom and Riyadh's commitment to preserving and sustainably developing nature.

The Kingdom's goal to reduce carbon emissions, create more clean and environmentally supportive models and uphold international sustainability standards is clearly reflected in the pillars of Expo 2030. With an emphasis on actively creating more green spaces - for example the 20 new parks in Riyadh, for the benefit of the environment and local community, the promotion of new energy sources, the Expo sets a benchmark for sustainability and innovation.

Central to the main plan of Riyadh Expo 2030 will stand a striking landmark symbolising 'Responsibility for Protecting the Planet'. This structure will be comprised of 195 columns representing participating countries, the landmark will be surrounded by three pavilions, each dedicated to the exhibition's sub-themes of "Prosperity for All," "Climate Action," and "A Different Tomorrow."

Also, the envisioning the reuse of the exhibition site ahead of the end of Expo 2030, for the development of an innovative urban model, showcases Saudi Arabia's commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in making eco-conscious and environmentally aware decisions, and implementing projects supporting these goals.
