Tick. Tock.Tick. Tock. The countdown to the much-anticipated launch event of Riyadh Season 2023 is well underway, with the Battle of the Baddest mere hours away.

And the world has just been introduced to the newest World Boxing Council (WBC) championship belt. The specially created, never seen before belt was shown to the public for the first time on the evening Wednesday October 25, just three days ahead of the inaugural fight of what is expected to be an annual championship.

Expected to run for ten rounds, the title fight of Battle of the Baddest boxing championship will kick off on the evening of Saturday, October 28.

British giant, Tyson Fury, legendary and undefeated heavy-weight champion of the world will take on French-Cameroonian, Francis Ngannou mixed martial arts expert in a WBC ruled fight. The athletes arrived into Riyadh on October 25, just in time to see the brand new championship belt in person, ahead of the title fight.

Unveiling a striking commemorative belt, fittingly named the "Riyadh Champion" belt, the World Boxing Council said that this belt is a custom, one-of-a-kind creation.

Thoughtfully designed, the main leather part of the belt represent the Saudi Arabian national identity with its rich, forest green shade. Whilst at the heart of this incredible design, flags from around the world encircle the badge and the Saudi Arabian flag is in the centre, alongside the Riyadh Season logo.

The words "Riyadh Champion" shimmer in elegant gold lettering adorned with diamonds, alongside a bedazzled WBC. Notably, the belt also includes octagon shapes, synonymous with MMA - a nod to Ngannou's debut in boxing from his mixed martial arts background.

The bedazzled and intricately designed belt also pays homage to the late Jose Sulaiman, a visionary leader of the WBC who aimed to firmly establish boxing in the Middle East. Furthermore, the face of the boxing legend Muhammad Ali is also featured on the left hand side of the belt, and Tyson Fury's namesake, and Ngannou's mentor, Mike Tyson is also featured on the belt.

Fury and Ngannou are also featured on the belt to acknowledge the inaugural fight of the Battle of the Baddest championship.

The President of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman, personally brought the belt to Riyadh, expressing his deep honour and anticipation for the unforgettable spectacle that lies ahead on October 28.
