In recent years, we have seen a surge in digital art and more specifically in AI art.

Digital art has been slowly seeping into the main stream consciousness, to almost become a creative trend in its own right: merging with real-life locations, creating a unique blend of virtual and physical worlds. The artists behind these creations are so talented that the snapshots often trick even the curated eye, into believing the piece of art or the art installation truly exists, when in reality, sadly, it doesn't.

Al Balad is recognised as UNESCO Heritage Area and stands out as a historic district celebrated for its traditional charm, characterised by ancient architecture, winding alleys, and vibrant markets, providing visitors with a window into the city's deep-rooted traditions and cultural legacy. And this was the chosen location for this incredible art installation.

The astonishing realism of AI artwork is now so close to perfect that it has the ability to trick almost anyone into believing that it truly exists. And the captivating art takeover in question, the Al Balad area of Jeddah, is an example of this remarkable fusion of beauty and technological innovation, blurring the lines between reality and artistry in a truly remarkable way, begging the question, is this real?

Yes, this is real.

Enter, Take Over Jeddah.

Take Over Jeddah is a creative and artistic concept designed, developed and curated by the imaginative and talented Argentinian artist, Andrés Reisinger.

Described by Reisinger as 'physical proof dreams do come true', his installation is the perfect example of AI inspired art translating and interacting directly with real life.

Arguably one of the art world's most creative and innovative artists, Reisinger is solidifying his place within the industry by perfectly executing and translating these photogenic, digitally imaginative art installations, into real life moments.

Take Over Jeddah comes as part of the Balad Al-Fann initiative to encourage contemporary creatives to share their works in one of the city's most historic locations. This is the first edition of this initiative for the Balad Al Fann program, which will also include an array of events, activities and workshops, alongside hosting numerous installations and showcases, including theatrical performances.

Standing at over seven metres tall, this installation features layers of eye-catching pink, billowing fabric. To protect the original building, the fabric is layered over a structure that is placed infront of one of Al Balad's traditional, restored coral stone buildings.

Juxtaposing the charm of the old, traditional and familiar with the elegance and allure of the modern, with both elements playing off each other, lending only to further enhance the beauty and intrigue of both the ancient and the contemporary.

Perfectly photogenic, and definitely thought-provoking, Take Over Jeddah is an installation that is bound to inspire local creatives and artists, and at the same time, encourage more local and international visitors to wander and enjoy what Jeddah's Al Balad area has to offer.

The installation will remain in place until March.
