Saudi artist Mawadah Muhtasib has teamed up with Harrods for a special Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr campaign, marking the third consecutive year that the iconic London department store has collaborated with an Arab calligrapher.

Muhtasib, known for her mastery of Arabic calligraphy, brings a fresh perspective to the art form by incorporating Muthana (mirror writing) and reverse script. Her work balances tradition and innovation, modernising the aesthetic while preserving its essence.

For this collaboration, she has created two bespoke pieces that blend Islamic floral motifs with her signature style. The first, inscribed with “Ramadan Kareem,” features a deep-blue background, echoing the spiritual tranquillity of the Holy Month.

The second, celebrating Eid Al-Fitr, carries the phrase “Eid Mubarak” in an elegant, vibrant pink design that reflects the joy of the occasion. “I am thrilled to collaborate with Harrods to mark Ramadan and Eid this year,” Muhtasib says. “Arabic calligraphy holds a profound power beyond artistic beauty—it is a true reflection of heritage, culture and design that transcends generations.”

Her artwork will be woven throughout Harrods’ Ramadan and Eid celebrations, from in-store displays to digital greetings and social media. Even the food halls of the Knightsbridge store will carry her designs, bringing an artistic touch to the festive season. Additionally, her calligraphy will be featured on Harrods’ exclusive Eid gifting packaging, ensuring her art reaches countless homes.

Muhtasib’s approach showcases the timeless appeal of Arabic calligraphy in the world of luxury and design, reinforcing its place on a global stage. This partnership not only celebrates tradition but reimagines it for a modern audience—exactly the kind of cultural fusion that makes Harrods’ annual Ramadan and Eid campaigns so distinctive.

Saudi Favourite 'Somewhere' Opens in Harrods

In February, London's iconic Harrods department store welcomed a new culinary addition: Somewhere, the much-loved Middle Eastern cafe. With seven locations dotted across Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, this new opening in the UK's capital city marks a significant milestone for the brand; bringing a taste of modern Saudi hospitality to a discerning international audience.

Found on the fourth floor of the legendary luxury department store, this opening is a testament to the growing influence of Middle Eastern brands on the global stage, and the far-reaching stretch of Saudi Arabian influence. The joint Saudi and Emirati-owned cafe brand is celebrated for its chic, warm and welcoming interiors, with swashes of punchy orange hues meeting calming shades of beige and cream, Harrods' new Somewhere location creates a fashion-forward yet inviting atmosphere.
