Saudi Arabia’s first SEVEN entertainment destination set for August launch in Abha

The Asir region is poised to become the focal point of Saudi Arabia’s expanding tourism landscape, and this time the focus is on a brand new entertainment district in Abha.

Chairman of the Asir Development Authority, Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, is scheduled to open the first SEVEN entertainment zone in Abha on August 5. Developed by Saudi Entertainment Ventures (SEVEN), this development represents a monumental milestone as the very first entertainment destination in the company’s nationwide network to open its doors to the public.

As mentioned, this brand new, first of it's kind entertainment zone will open to the public on Wednesday August 5, 2026. The soon-to-open entertainment complex spans a land size of 64,000 square meters, boasting a total built-up area exceeding 79,000 square meters.

SEVEN Abha has been meticulously designed to reflect the natural landscape, ancient heritage, and unique cultural identity of the Asir region. Rather than imposing a generic layout, the architectural design mimics the structural spirit of the local geography. The destination integrates interactive games, social lounges, retail spaces, and food and beverage venues aimed at providing a holistic, year-round operational calendar that insulates the regional tourism industry from seasonal lulls.

The opening of this new entertainment zone in Abha complements and supports the broader Asir Development Strategy and enhance the arrival experience for international and domestic visitors alike. As the August 5 opening approaches, SEVEN Abha aims to set a new benchmark for regional development and entertainment in Saudi Arabia, proving that world-class entertainment infrastructure can successfully coexist with, celebrate, and preserve regional heritage.

The complex will house eight distinct entertainment anchors and more that 150 entertainment experiences that have been specially curated by experts for families, young people, and visitors. Highlighting the entertainment lineup is a jungle-themed edu-tainment attraction called Discovery Adventures, created in direct collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery, whilst other experiences have been developed in collaboration with international brands such as Mattel (best known for Barbie), Transformers, Hasbro and Hot Wheels. Younger children will have access to a dedicated Play-Doh-themed entertainment centre, while older thrill-seekers can test out their driving skills on the exclusive indoor e-karting track that has been brought to life in collaboration with Formula E.

By incorporating these components inside a single, unified digital and physical ecosystem, the project directly resolves a historical infrastructure gap for local residents who previously traveled to major metropolitan hubs like Riyadh or Jeddah for world-class leisure concepts.

The entertainment developer is currently executing a 14-destination network across various regions of the Kingdom, backed by an aggregate investment exceeding SR50 billion ($13.3 billion). Across these various sites, the developer intends to introduce more than 150 unique attractions, family entertainment centres, cinemas, and indoor adventure experiences meant to diversify the national economy away from oil while generating thousands of local jobs.

Delivered in close cooperation with the Asir Development Authority, SEVEN Abha and the other thirteen entertainment destinations to come will become a core pillar supporting the socioeconomic, domestic tourism and quality-of-life objectives of Saudi's Vision 2030 project. SEVEN Tabuk is the only other destination within this project to be announced and confirmed, although opening dates are still to be confirmed.
