The Jeddah Municipality has successfully inaugurated the first sandy beach in North Obhur.
Spanning an impressive 17,640 square meters, this new opening marks a significant development in the project, and aligns with the mayoralty's commitment to reclaiming and revitalising the city's waterfronts and providing both citizens and tourists with access to high-quality public spaces.
The neighbourhood's new beach features enhanced safety measures, including lifeguards and marine surveillance, and is designed to be a welcoming and enjoyable destination for all. Safety and environmental consciousness are key priorities. The development of the beach included the installation of marine surveillance towers to enhance safety and facilitate rapid emergency response.
Captain Thamer Nahhas, Undersecretary of Marine Monitoring, emphasised the overwhelming response from the public since the beach's opening. He highlighted the mayoralty's dedication to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of visitors by providing free access to well-maintained and secure beach facilities. "The beach is equipped with lifeguards accredited by the Saudi Life Saving Federation, ensuring prompt assistance in case of any emergencies," Captain Nahhas stated.
In addition to safety features, the new beach development incorporates eco-friendly solar-powered lights and informative signage guiding visitors on beach rules and permitted swimming hours.
This successful project marks a significant step in the mayoralty's efforts to enhance the city's public spaces. Two additional beach projects are currently underway in North Obhur, covering areas of 10,320 square meters and 75,000 square meters respectively. These ongoing developments further demonstrate the mayoralty's commitment to providing residents and visitors with exceptional recreational opportunities.
